Chapter 7

Hunter

Manuel, my brother’s butler, opens the door when I ring the bell, and I step inside the open foyer. After handing him the bottle of wine I brought with me, I tease, “Where’s my asshole brother and the beauty he somehow managed to convince to marry him?”

“Fuck you, asshole,” Dalton gripes behind me, and I spin around to find him standing in the living room entrance. “We’re in here. Come on in and get a drink.” He turns and walks back into the huge sunken living room, and I follow behind him, ready to get this night over with.

Amy is sitting on the white leather sofa, and she turns to smile. “Hunter, I don’t think you’ve met my bestie, Allie.” The room goes dark around me when I see her. Today, her light brown hair is hanging loose around her delicate shoulders. I’m not sure what sound I’ve made, but everyone in the room is staring at me with shocked expressions. Amy’s mouth is opening and closing, but no sound is emerging. My girl is breathing so fast; I’m worried she may hyperventilate.

“What is up with you, Lion Man?” My brother is joking, but I push past the asshole and storm over to my girl. Allie’s expressive brown eyes widen as I place my hands under her arms and lift. “Wait a minute. What the hell?” Dalton roars.

I shake off Dalton’s hand and look over my shoulder to growl, “I need to have a private word with Allie.” After taking her soft hand in mine, I lead her out of the room and down the hall to Dalton’s office. When I close and lock the door, I hear a little gasp escape her. Needing a second to get myself under control, I sit on the brown leather sectional and pat the seat next to me. “Sit down. I won’t bite you. Not yet, at least.” Allie looks more confused than angry as she swallows visibly before dropping down on the dark leather. The tiny black skirt she’s wearing rides up her pale thighs, and my cock turns rock-hard in my pants. I call on all my control to keep from dragging her curvy little ass across my lap before we’ve straightened a few things out.

While looking in her dark brown eyes, I sigh. “I’m an asshole. From the day I saw you in the coffee bar, I’ve had feelings for you that I’ve never felt before in my life. Instead of facing my feelings, I acted like an idiot and ran from them.” As I’m explaining, her eyes are clouding over even more, so I press on. “The night I saw you at Shine, I thought your fucking roommate was your boyfriend. When he touched your ass, jealousy ate me alive, and that’s the reason I acted like such an asshole. There’s no way I can ever make it up to you, but I’m begging for the chance to try. I’m so in love with you I can’t even see straight.
